The perfect prawn and lobster tail braai!!

Now that summer is here, the best way to kick off the season is with a prawn and lobster braai.

We have a lovely fish monger at the food lovers market in Hillfox.  I bought the lobster tail and prawns there.

I let the lobster and prawn marinate in crush garlic, olive oil and fresh lemon juice, for about 1 hour.

I prepared the garden green salad in advance, wrapped the potation in foil and had everything ready by the time my guests arrived.

After the coals were at the best I put the prawns and lobster on the fire, I added some fresh salted butter and kept the prawns and lobster moist with lemon juice!!

This was one fantastic afternoon lunch!! I will have to do it again!! Cheers

Get moving and do some exercise!!

Exercise

Right so one cannot expect to just lose weight be eating less.  Yes you will lose some weight but what you are in actual fact loosing is muscle mass. This is what the body burns first as fuel.  That is why so many of us who joy-joy diets always tend to pick up the weight and some.

Well in my opinion I will eat as per my “Eat right to lose weight” article and with that incorporate some exercise.

Ok so what can one do regards exercise that does not require a gym membership.  For starters I started walking on Tuesday, Thursday and over the weekends I walk on average 2.5 – 3km.  I also invested in a not to expensive mountain bike, which I take out for a ride at least once a week.

I believe that getting active while watching what you eat will speed up this process called weight lose.

I will keep you all posted on how my attempt goes.

Eating right to loose weight!

My basic food/menu/diet, that I will attempt to follow over the next 3 months.

I am not being to hideous when it comes to what I can or can’t eat.  I feel that as long as I eat in moderation what I think is a healthy combination at various times I should be able to shed some unwanted weight! I am only going to focus on eating as best as I can from Monday to Friday.

Because I am on the road on Tuesday and Thursday this is the only day’s I will eat a full breakfast.

I don’t get time to snack and a proper full breakfast takes me further in the day.

I always have biltong in my bag so this can provide a snack when I’m on the road.  Now that we heading into summer there will be allot of weekend braais and salads, so I am not too concerned about the weekends. As long as I watch how much I eat!!

As far as beverages go I am not a heavy coffee drinker so 1 or 2 cups per day at the most. I should really be drinking green tea, maybe I’ll give it a try and change.

However it is very important to drink water and this I have no problem with, I easily drink up to 3L per day!

Step by Step to crochet!

Step by Step to crochet!

So I do not claim to be an expert on crocheting however this basic step by step helped me out.
Once you have the hang of it you need to make a long chain then using the same step you go back down the chain and so on and so forth.

And now a few rows later………….

Gift Ideas

I was recently invited to a birthday party.  The trouble with this is you always have to think of a gift and the wrapping of this gift.  I always like to make an impression with my gifts and believe that the appearance of the gift sets the tone for the actual gift.  I have for some time been collecting ribbons, cards, wrapping paper, pretty boxes of all shapes and sizes.  So when I was invited, I was quiet excited to see what I could do.  I’m not the most creative person in the world but love doing my own little projects.

This is what I did:

Please let me know what you think, maybe you have some ideas and easy tips that we could all use.

2.       Mix all dry ingredients together
3.       Add sugar to butter mix
4.       Beat eggs
5.       Add tin of sweet corn to beaten eggs
6.       Add sugar and butter mix to beaten egg mix
7.       Add mix to dry ingredients

My attempt at crochet

I have always enjoyed knitting, so recently I knitted a little blanket. One of my friends then mentioned that I should crochet a boarder around the knitted blanket.
Well I have never crocheted before and didn’t even know where to begin.  I then did some research and found a step-by-step guide to crocheting. I went out and bought a hook and wool and attempted to crochet. Well it was certainly not as easy as it looked and attempt after attempt I could just not get it, but practice does make perfect and eventually I did manage to get it right.

This is the result of many attempts and practice:

This is my second crocheted blanket:

I do unfortunately only know the one stich and although I have now bought books I am just not getting it right so again I will keep trying and when I do eventually get another stitched mastered I will no doubt post an up-date here!!

However if any of you have some easy to use patterns, with step by step, pictured instructions please do share it with us!
